We had so much fun, learned so much, and got to listen to some terrific choirs (how many standing ovations were there in all?!) in Pasadena at this year's conference.
Due to the stellar leadership of our President, Anna Hamre, and our program chair, Julie Dana and countless other members who stepped up to fill the needs and serve our organization, we all got to spend a few precious days in choir heaven!
After investigating five other potential sites for our next western division conference in spring, 2018, we have decided to return to Pasadena. The combination of performance venues, hotels, convention center space, and proximity of all the sites we need within easy walking distance for our events is ideal for the expected attendance and activity schedule of our gathering.
The conference will also be approximately three weeks later into the calendar year, March 14-18, than this year's conference. The primary reason for a later conference is to leave as much time as possible between the California CASMEC conference now scheduled annually over President's weekend in February. This year over 500 California Choral directors attended that conference and the California chapter (approximately 80% of our entire western division membership) is the major player in programming and staffing the choral portion of this gathering of California instrumental, choral and general music teachers.
We'd like to give as much calendar space as possible between the two events to encourage attendance at both in 2018! Look to this website and other communications over the next several months as the planning starts and rolls out for ACDA Pasadena 2018!
